MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM
OVERVIEW GRADES SIX - EIGHT 2008-2009 CCA Middle School
reflects the schools’ concern for the children of this transitional
age. Because adolescence is a time in which children naturally explore their
beliefs in order to internalize them, it is a great time in which to plant
seeds of Truth that will grow throughout a child’s life. Through
Biblical integration, making Scripture relevant to all studies, students gain
a greater understanding of God, themselves, and the world. Out of this
awareness comes thankfulness which leads to lives lived in a just manner that
glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. All classes stress the skills needed for
success in future years. Teachers endeavor to foster greater academic and
personal independence while emphasizing RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and
INTEGRITY throughout each class. The passage from Lower School to Upper
School is gradual yet firm and is based upon the academic and social maturity
of the students. Middle School
students need a structured and caring environment in which to make sense of
their “new selves.” During the middle school years, children
become more independent and need special guidance and understanding in
working with peers and adults. Developmentally, young adolescents: ●
are, as a group, widely diverse. ●
are engaged in self-exploration and self-definition. ●
are ready and eager to participate in their home,
school, and church communities. ●
need and want positive relationships with both peers
and adults. ●
continue to need structure and clearly set limits. ●
need and desire increased levels of autonomy. ●
have a very high energy level. ●
need opportunities to achieve competence and success. The entire
program of CCA’s middle school is designed to meet these needs. The
expectations for students are high, both academically and personally. The
faculty and administration work diligently to provide a challenging yet
supportive environment, while, at the same time, offering various educational
opportunities for their growth. COURSE OF STUDY
