CrossRoad Christian
Academy is an independent
school located in Gardena, California, a suburb southwest of Los Angeles.
CrossRoad has an excellent reputation in the community as an outstanding
Christian school with high standards. It seeks to educate the whole
child in an environment of love and compassion. CrossRoad is accredited by
the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (W.A.S.C.) and a member of
the Association of Christian Schools International (A.C.S.I.). CCA was founded in September 1950, and presently
consists of junior kindergarten through eighth grade students. The students
who attend CCA represent the many ethnic cultures of the surrounding
community. CrossRoad's philosophy
of Christian education is based on the belief that mankind finds spiritual
salvation and fulfillment in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
(Ephesians 1:7). Personal meaning and purpose are also found in doing good
works and serving others (Ephesians 2:10). Children are viewed as individuals
created by God with unique abilities and capabilities. CCA and parents
partner together to educate children as total persons, spiritually,
intellectually, socially, physically, and culturally. A number of additional specialty subject classes, programs, and activities are
provided to CrossRoad's students. Specialty Subject
Classes: Spanish, physical education, computer, music, and 7th/8th grade
advanced classes. Programs: daycare (before
and after-school daycare called E.L.A.R.), after-school tutoring, school-wide
discipline plan, lunch program, computer clubs, weekly chapel programs, lunch
program, breakfast program, snack and milk programs, student government,
summer school/day camp, and after-school choirs. Activities: interscholastic
sports (such as flag football, girls and boys basketball, and volleyball),
pep squad, Science Fair, ACSI Spelling Bee, ACSI Math Olympics, educational
field trips, Christmas & Spring music productions, jog-a-thon, and book
fairs. Testing applications and enrollment applications are available in the academy
office. The school year for students extends from September through June for
approximately 180 instructional days.
